Your weapon in Blade & Soul will grow in power and ability alongside your own.
The Raven Weapon line is currently the strongest weapon line in the game after Aransu, obtained by using upgrade materials from the 12 man raid Skybreak Spire. Due to the difficulty of the raid, NCsoft added the PvE weapon lines Riftwalker and Dawnforged Weapon lines, but the Raven Weapon line is still considered to be superior. Raven weapons can be upgraded to the Aransu line using the Hive. Jan 16, 2019 Today marks the 3rd anniversary of Blade and Soul NA/EU server and with comes new events and updates, this is a quick video showing the weapon effect on the Dragonbrand Sword. In blade and soul, by upgrading a weapon, or finding new accessories or soul shield pieces, you can continually increase your combat power. In addition, weapon's stat bonuses can be added through the use of gems. By adding gems to enhance your weapon, you get additional damage bonuses and effects in combat such as freezing effect, health recovering effect, and blood draining, etc.
Regardless of the path you take, your weapon will be a consistent tool throughout your journey. From your earliest days of training in your chosen martial art, until your last, your weapon will be your constant throughout. Early in your journeys you'll come across a weapon of immense power—a Hongmoon weapon—your weapon. This is the tool you will keep with you, and work to increase in power along your journey.
When defeating your foes they will at times drop their own weapons or you will be rewarded with training crystals, and these can be sacrificed to imbue your weapon with their strength. As you add the power from other weapons to your own, it increases in level, enhancing the weapon's power and attributes.
Once it has reached Stage 5, it can be coaxed to breakthrough to Stage 6 with the power of a specific rare weapon, and rare reagents.
Now your weapon can continue its journey to Stage 10 and transform into a new weapon once a different rare weapon and reagent have been collected. After the transformation has been completed, your weapon will return to Stage 1, but with a new appearance and name.
Difficult enemies keep the weapons needed to begin a breakthrough or transformation, and the rare reagents can generally be found through repeatable quests within certain areas of the world.
In addition to your weapon, your path will also include a selection of accessories that also increase in power in the same way as your weapon--fed with other accessories—and also breakthrough tiers using rare accessories and reagents.
Enemy weapons aren't always destined for destruction though; they also provide unique appearances that can be kept and used to change the look of your own weapon. There are tales of very rare and powerful Legendary quality weapons that can sometimes even rival the power of your Hongmoon weapon at the highest levels of expertise. The success of any martial artist will not only rely on their own physical strength and training, but also of their weapon.

Each class in Blade & Soul weapon uses a unique weapon and can only equip that type of weapon. Weapons can be purchased from weapon merchants, dropped by monsters, attained from quests, and at level 16 and higher, purchased from the market. Unlike other games, you keep your main weapon and level it up as you progress (as opposed to discarding it when another weapon has dropped). There is also an option to change your weapon's appearance with a weapon skin.

Main Weapon[edit | edit source]
You will receive your main weapon when you reach the raid questline (Orange Quests) named Temple of Succession. From here on, you will keep this weapon all through your progress in the game as there is no better weapon. However, you are required to level up your weapon as you progress. This is done by gathering the required upgrade materials. Congratulations! You have now reached the beginning of the game that involves playing with other players.
Open the Manage Equipment window either by clicking the 'Manage Equipment' icon at the bottom of the Inventory screen, or by Left-clicking the weapon icon and selecting the Manage Equipment Icon. From here, you can use the upgrade materials you have gathered to upgrade your weapon to the next stage.
Breakthrough/Evolution[edit | edit source]
Your weapon levels up in stages. At each stage, your attributes get higher. At stages 7, 8, and 9 you will unlock the option to skip to the next weapon tier in the stages 1, 2, and 3 respectively (i.e. 7 of tier 1 will go to 1 of tier 2, 9 of tier 1 will go to 3 of tier 2).
It is usually better to upgrade to stage 9 of your current weapon tier before progressing to the next tier.
Raid-Paths and PvE Paths[edit | edit source]
You will notice that your weapon can be one of three different types for any particular tier. One of these is the raid weapon and considered the best in slot (BiS). The other two are known as PvE weapons and offer less of a boost to your damage output. It is generally suggested that if you go through the PvE path that you go through it in one go before returning to the raid path, as the raid path is significantly stronger. Do not linger on the PvE path unless that is where you began your journey.
For New Players[edit | edit source]
You will receive either the Dawnforged or Riftwalk weapon from the Temple of Succession questline. It is suggested that you upgrade to Stage 9 of these weapons. If you have enough upgrade materials to go to Storm Dragon stage 9 then do so. However, if you intend on taking the game more slowly, then feel free to progress to Aransu Stage 3 from Riftwalk 9 or Dawnforged 9. Ultimately, the raid paths are a little more expensive to upgrade but provide more damage. The upgrade paths for Grand Celestial and Thornbreaker are currently much more expensive than their PvE counterparts.
About Grand Celestial Upgrades[edit | edit source]
Due to the unfortunate nature of gathering weapon stacks as you attack, your damage output at the lower tiers of Grand Celestial can seem like there is no significant difference to that of Aransu. Due to the easier nature of acquiring Grand Celestial Steels from Midnight Skypetal Plains, it is still suggested to go through the GC raid path but do not linger between GC3 and GC6 for long, as GC6 is when the results begin to consistently be better than A9. This is a unique case from the RNG nature of GC weapon stacks.
